Corporate Funding
So far, I have been in contact with a few corporations in order to garner funds. I am focusing on Kodak as my main foundation for funds. I've written a pitch letter detailing my plans to Kodak and hopefully they will support this festival. I am also trying to align myself with the Tribeca Film Festival, as a subdivision in order to fall under their tax exemptions
Event Description
The special event which I am holding is a documentary film festival based around the One World/One Dream, Post Beijing Olympics theme. The films will tackle political topics surrounding the Olympic Games concerning the environment within Beijing, Chinese human rights violations, and other events which took place before, during and after the games. The festival will take place in New York City, preferably in a medium sized auditorium or hall, over a three day span. The event will showcase twenty films over the first two days, with a panel of judges, picked from charitable contributors and interested professional filmmakers, deciding which five films warrant awards. The final day of the festival will include each award winning film along with a documentary submitted by a special guest director. There will be an open submission process over a six month span, allowing filmmakers from around the world to submit their work. Through ticket sales, concessions, and charitable donations, the festival will be raising money for amateur film programs located in Beijing. Aside from having a chance to be on the panel, donators will also have the opportunity to gain a tax write-off, and sponsor the event.
Tickets will be sold online and at a box office located on site. There will be no age limit required for entrance and discounts for students; however wristbands will be given out to those who wish to purchase alcohol. The concessions will include 2 stands selling food and soft drinks, and a beer garden accessible to patrons with wristbands. At the conclusion of the festival, patrons will have the ability to meet with the directors in order to discuss their films and opinions they generate. There will also be a formal Q&A with the five finalists and guest director. This will be covered by the media and help these filmmakers achieve worldwide recognition.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to expose and educate the world to Chinese culture through a series of amateur documentaries. The 2008 Beijing Olympics were marred by controversy before, during, and after the games. Through these films, we hope to garner different perspectives on the events which transpired throughout the country. The goal of the film festival is to inspire independent thought among our audiences regarding the state of China, without the influence of mass media bias.
